BTN-Slam Poetry

BTN-Slam Poetry

13 year old Sollie Raphael is an Australian slam poet. He wrote his first poem when he was about 9 and has been writing since he can remember. He always liked writing things like little books and comics. When he started writing poems he found it a little bit hard to make it rhyme and fit into the structures. With poems they have a specific structure you need to follow as well as an emotion you should try and make the reader feel. With slam poetry you can use any topic you like, any structure, any form, so slow and fast verses, any stanzas.

How come they have competitions for slam poetry?

Where did slam poetry come from?

I learnt that slam poetry gives the writer a lot of option when writing. And it can vary between how it’s written.

100 word challenge- They were exhausted

100 word challenge- They were exhausted

Day after day, week after week, month after month the escape would never end. They knew as long as they were still walking and talking they would still be hunted. The journey would never end and in that time they saw wonders they knew only few would ever see. But they were exhausted they knew they wanted to stop but they knew if they did it would just come faster. Many had come and gone some left because they thought they could face the horrors behind us and others knew they couldn’t go on. They knew the journey would never end so they keep walking past it all.

Mars rover would detect each rock as it follows its path. The mars rover starts off in front of rocks. Then then the mars rover will go forward about 4 meters. The rover will then go left and then turn right for 6 meters. After that it will go down a few meters. Then it will be like a zig zag as you go right then down then left and you will end up in your end position.

The Edison will start on the sheet of paper and would be coded to sense the line. Then it will gradually follow the path/ line around the rocks. First it will go straight forward for a few meters. After its past 3 rocks it will turn right for about 3 meters. Then it will keep on going straight for another 3 meters. After that it will turn right then down then go left till it ends in its end position past all the rocks.

BTN-Humans in Space

BTN-Humans in Space

Facts- Humans have always looked up into the sky. We’ve always been fascinated by the stars, asteroids the moon and sun. In the early 60s everything changed when the first human went into space. In 1961 a cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin flew in the Vostok 1 and was the first person to fly into space. This trip made incredible discoveries to help us know today. Many other countries took interest in the idea of sending people into space. Countries like America took on the idea and sent people to the moon in 1969 and Columbia made a reusable spacecraft. They also made an international space station which people live in.

Questions- Are there any other planets that we know might be liveable for humans?

Why don’t some countries join together to send people in space?

Insight- I now see that every trip we take in space helps us understand more about space. We are learning so much about space and how we can live on other planets.

100 word challenge-We seemed to be on television

100 word challenge-We seemed to be on television

Suddenly the reality of our world came true, the day we all dared to speak of. Our world is filled with darkness our parents keep from us. They feel like they can protect us forever and keep us in their grasp. But the truth is we will eventually find out about what happens outside of our happy little lives. Then we seemed to be on television. It was quite day when I was on the couch as the sun slowing started peeling through the curtains. And that’s where my life ended. Around us were neverending colourless rooms while we just another person pet. They watched and waited for us to do something while they experimented with us.
